About The Children's Miracle Network and the Run For The Children Event

The CMN Run for the Children Event was conceived by race founder Tom Maher in 2004. Tom, an avid runner, supportive father and

enthusiastic Wal-Mart Associate, presented his ideas to the CMN Committee at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Marcy, NY. The management team and the CMN Committee Associates there, in coordination with the local Wal-Mart stores in Utica, NY & New Hartford, NY, whole-heartedly supported his idea and vision and Tom's baby was born the 1st weekend of August, 2005.

A combination of nearly 100-runners ran the 1st Annual 12k & 5k Road Races which Starts and Finishes near Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare CMN Hospital on Champlin Avenue. The 3rd Annual CMN Run for the Children 12K & 5K Road Races will be run on Sunday, September 9, 2007. The Road Races will start on Champlin Avenue and the courses wind through the Towns of WHITESTOWN & NEW HARTFORD, the Villages of YORKVILLE, NEW YORK MILLS & WHITESBORO, and the City of UTICA - making this truly a collective community event.

The Children's Miracle Network (CMN) is an International, non-profit Organization dedicated to helping children and their families by raising funds and awareness for over 170 non-profit children's hospitals through North America.

These Hospitals, like our very own, Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, affiliated with the local Children's Miracle Network are the premier facilities in their respective communities and offer some of the finest state-of-the-art care, cutting edge research and preventative health education to more than 17-million children with all types of afflictions, including birth defects, pediatric AIDS, muscular dystrophy, sickle cell anemia, asthma and accidental injuries, as well as the bumps and bruises of life.
